SASARAM----------------------------A shocking case of committing crime under the guise of social prestige and respectable conduct has come to light from the Shivsagar police station area of Sasaram sub-division. In the case of jewelry theft from a gold merchant's shop, the police have set an example of swift action by arresting three women within just 24 hours.

The women arrested by the Shivsagar police station are Suman Devi, wife of Sudama Pandey, resident of Pandey Dihi village, Chenari police station, Rohtas district; Seema Devi, wife of Lavkush Pandey, resident of Auraiya village, Shivsagar police station, Rohtas district; and Nilavati Kunwar, wife of late Chandrabhushan Pandey, resident of Karauna village, Belav police station, Kaimur district.

It is reported that these women would go to jewelry shops claiming to belong to affluent and respectable families. While looking at the jewelry, they would distract the shopkeeper and steal the goods in the blink of an eye.

Regarding the incident, gold merchant Aditya Kumar Soni had filed a written complaint at the Shivsagar police station on January 8, 2026. He stated that around 1:30 PM, three unknown women came to his shop and stole jewelry by deceiving him.

Considering the seriousness of the matter, a police team was formed under the leadership of the Shivsagar Station House Officer. The footage from the CCTV cameras installed in and around the shop was thoroughly examined, which helped in clearly identifying the three women. Following this, raids were conducted at their residences and they were arrested.

The stolen goods were also recovered during the arrest, which included a pair of silver anklets and a silver fish. During questioning, the women confessed to their crime and admitted to carrying out the theft in a well-planned manner.

In this case, a case has been registered under Shivsagar Police Station Case Number 12/26, dated January 8, 2026, under Sections 317(5) and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code. The process of sending the accused to judicial custody is underway.

This incident sends a serious message to society that trusting people based on outward appearances and perceived social status can sometimes be very costly.

The fact that this news was suppressed by other media outlets also raises serious questions about the substandard and selective journalism prevalent in present-day India. At the same time, the swift and effective action by the police has strengthened public trust in law and order.
